King John's Palace is a ruined Norman merchant's house in Southampton, England, whose misleading name derives from a historical misconception about its royal associations. Built in the Norman architectural style, the structure gained significance in the early 14th century when its west wall was incorporated into the city's defensive fortifications. The archways within the building contain what may be Britain's earliest surviving gunports, marking an important transition in military architecture. Today the ruins form part of the Tudor House Museum and hold Grade I listed status as well as scheduled monument designation.
