The Kohl Center is a multi-purpose arena at the University of Wisconsin–Madison that opened in 1998, designed by Populous. Home to the university's men's and women's basketball teams and men's ice hockey team, the venue seats 17,287 for basketball and 15,539 for hockey, making it the fourth largest in the Big Ten Conference and Wisconsin's second largest indoor venue after Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Located at the intersection of West Dayton and North Frances Streets, the arena is named after former United States Senator and Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl, an alumnus who donated $25 million from his Kohl's fortune to support the project's construction.
