Located in the village of Mägipe on the Estonian island of Hiiumaa, Kõpu Lighthouse stands 37.7 meters tall and ranks among the world's oldest lighthouses still in continuous use, having been completed in 1531. One of Estonia's most recognizable landmarks, the structure is architecturally unique in having evolved through all stages from medieval beacon to modern electrified facility. Its light serves navigational purposes up to 26 nautical miles away, marking the Hiiu Shoal and warning vessels of the treacherous shoreline. The lighthouse, historically known by its Swedish name Övre Dagerort, is today designated an architectural monument and remains a major tourist attraction on the island.
