The Kress Building, a Classical Moderne Art Deco structure in downtown Fort Worth, was designed by New York architect Edward F. Sibbert and completed in 1936. The five-story edifice served the S.H. Kress and Co. "five-and-dime" retail chain until 1960, and stood as one of the few major construction projects in Fort Worth financed entirely with private capital during the Great Depression. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, the building was repurposed into residential housing in 2016.
