Located at 140 South Beach Street in Daytona Beach, Florida, the S. H. Kress and Co. Building is an Art Deco structure completed in 1932 as one of approximately 225 "Main Street" architectural flagship stores designed for the S. H. Kress & Co. five-and-dime department store chain. Added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 7, 1983, the building was converted into professional office space in the early 1980s, subdividing its 21,000 square feet among dozens of tenants. Now in its ninth decade of continuous operation, it remains a significant example of early twentieth-century commercial architecture and downtown heritage preservation.
