Built in 1932 at 1109 Broadway in Lubbock, Texas, the Kress Building exemplifies Mission and Spanish Colonial Revival architecture through the work of designer Edward F. Sibbert. Originally constructed as a S. H. Kress & Co. store, the building served the retail company until 1975. Its architectural character reflects the early twentieth-century enthusiasm for Spanish Colonial forms in commercial design. Recognized for its historical significance, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
