Kuala Lumpur railway station, built between 1910 and 1917, stands as a landmark of Indo-Saracenic architecture in Malaysia's capital. Replacing an earlier station on the same site, it served as the primary railway hub for the Federated Malay States Railways and its successor, Keretapi Tanah Melayu, until Kuala Lumpur Sentral assumed much of its role in 2001. The station is distinguished by its architectural fusion of Eastern and Western design elements. Located along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, it sits near the similarly styled Railway Administration Building, the National Mosque, and the Dayabumi Complex. A designated national historic building of Malaysia, the station remains an important transport landmark, with the nearby Pasar Seni LRT and MRT station located 400 metres away across the Klang River serving as a connecting transit point.
