L'Oceanogràfic, a striking public aquarium in Valencia's Garden of the Turia, opened on 14 February 2003 as part of the City of Arts and Sciences cultural complex. Designed by architect Félix Candela and structural engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro, the building recreates diverse marine habitats within its innovative form, positioned southeast of the city center.
