L'Umbracle, a high-tech sculpture garden designed by Santiago Calatrava as part of Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences complex, opened in 2001. Located along the southwestern edge of the complex, the structure serves the dual purpose of sheltering an underground car park while functioning as a landscaped walk showcasing indigenous Valencian flora—including rockrose, lentisca, rosemary, honeysuckle, bougainvillea, and palm trees. Its interior features the Walk of the Sculptures, an outdoor art gallery displaying works by contemporary artists such as Yoko Ono, Miquel of Navarre, and Francesc Abbot, creating a distinctive fusion of horticultural and artistic exhibition space.
