La Pyramide is a brutalist high-rise tower block in the Plateau district of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, designed by Italian architect Rinaldo Olivieri and completed in 1973. Conceived to evoke the dynamism of an African market within an urban form, the building was among the first such structures in the Plateau during the era of Ivorian economic expansion. Its pyramidal design housed residential quarters for expatriates and Ivorian elites, while its ground floor accommodated shops and boutiques. The building's inefficient ratio of rentable to circulation space, combined with its abandonment during Ivory Coast's political instability, led to severe deterioration from the 1990s onward. The Ivorian government announced a comprehensive renovation program in 2011 under public-private partnership, with an estimated cost of 18 billion CFA francs aimed at transforming it into a tourist landmark, though reconstruction efforts have not yet materialized.
