Lane Technical College Prep High School, a selective enrollment magnet school on Chicago's north side in the Roscoe Village neighborhood, was designed by architect Dwight H. Perkins and completed in 1908 in the Chicago School style. One of the city's oldest schools, it has grown into the state's largest high school with an enrollment exceeding four thousand students. As a selective-enrollment institution, Lane requires prospective students to pass entrance examinations. It is one of eleven such selective-enrollment schools in Chicago and draws a diverse student body from varying ethnic and economic backgrounds. In 2019, the school was rated the third-best public high school in Illinois and sixty-ninth nationally.
