Built between 1925 and 1927 in Glacier National Park by Austin Weikert, the Lee Creek Snowshoe Cabin exemplifies National Park Service rustic architecture. This single-room log structure, with wood flooring and unfinished walls and roof, was designed as a shelter for winter hikers in what was then a remote location. The cabin features a woodstove with metal chimney for warmth and includes a trap door in the floor providing access to a small cellar food cache for provisions. Rangers patrolling from the nearby Belly River ranger station made primary use of the cabin during the harsh mountain winters.
