Built in 1935 by local contractor Harry E. Doverspike, the Sun Camp Fireguard Cabin (also known as the Baring Creek Cabin) exemplified the National Park Service Rustic style in Glacier National Park. Constructed to specifications from the NPS Division of Landscape Architecture, the log cabin served as a ranger station and was the last surviving structure of the Sun Camp Ranger Station complex, which once included a ranger station, barn, and woodshed near Baring Creek. Notable features of the modest structure included a center-wall entry placement and heating provided by a wood stove vented through the back log wall to a stone chimney, with no indoor plumbing. The cabin was destroyed by the Reynolds Creek Wildfire on July 22, 2015.
