The Linn County Courthouse in Mound City, Kansas, completed in 1885, is a Queen Anne style structure designed by Topeka architect George Ropes. Built of red brick on a native limestone foundation, the two-story-with-basement building measures 110 by 60 feet and rises nearly 65 feet in height. Its facade is articulated by smooth cut stone belt courses—one separating the foundation from the brick walls above, and another encircling the structure at the level of the second-story window sills. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, it exemplifies late nineteenth-century Kansas courthouse architecture.
