The Little Theatre, located on East Avenue in downtown Rochester, New York, is a movie house founded in 1929 and among the oldest art-house cinemas in the United States. Built in the Art Deco style, the theater operates as a nonprofit multiplex dedicated to independent and foreign films outside mainstream distribution. Since 2011, it has been affiliated with the WXXI Public Broadcasting Council. The venue has hosted performances during the annual Rochester International Jazz Festival and, since 2021, serves as home to the High Falls Film Festival, a monthly series celebrating women in cinema. A 2022 restoration project, which earned the Preservation League of New York State's Excellence in Historic Preservation award, carefully returned the theater's interior to its original 1929 character while enhancing accessibility. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
