The Robey Theatre in Spencer, West Virginia, is the oldest continuously operating movie theater in the United States. Built in 1907 and extensively remodeled in 1926, this three-story, five-bay structure exemplifies Neoclassical and Italian Renaissance Revival design. Its front facade is anchored by a prominent central entrance bay featuring a ticket booth with flanking double doors on either side, while a marquee suspended by chains and crowned with a distinctive neon sign projects from the second floor. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, the theatre remains a testament to early twentieth-century American cinema architecture.
