In Mount Rainier National Park, the Longmire Buildings form a distinctive architectural ensemble representing the National Park Service Rustic style at its finest. Built between 1927 and 1929, the complex comprises three structures: the Community Building (1927), the Administration Building (1928), and the Service Station (1929). Designed by National Park Service staff under the direction of Thomas Chalmers Vint, these buildings served as the park's former administrative headquarters and exemplify some of the most prominent applications of the rustic aesthetic within the national park system. The ensemble was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, recognizing its architectural and historical significance.
