Built around 1890 in Winchester, Massachusetts, the Louis N. Maxwell House stands as one of the town's finest examples of Shingle style architecture. This 2.5-story wood-frame residence features a distinctive front facade with a cross gable whose roofline sweeps dramatically down to the first floor, sheltering a recessed entry porch. A turret with a conical roof punctuates the gable's left side, adding vertical emphasis to the composition. The house was recognized for its architectural significance when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
