Malmö Opera is a major performance venue in Malmö, Sweden, built between 1933 and 1944 by architect Sigurd Lewerentz (with David Helldén and Erik Lallerstedt). Originally opened as the Malmö City Theatre and known by that name until 1992, the opera house ranks among Scandinavia's largest auditoriums, seating 1,511 people in an enclosed amphitheatre design that maximizes sightlines. Today it hosts opera, operetta, and musical performances, and is recognized as an individually listed building complex.
