Maretsch Castle stands in the historic heart of Bolzano, South Tyrol, a residential rather than fortified structure whose origins trace to the thirteenth century. The Feiler family reshaped the castle into its present Renaissance form between 1560 and 1570, transforming an earlier medieval core into an elegant dwelling. Now designated as Italian national heritage and a cultural monument in South Tyrol, the castle serves as a convention center while remaining open to visitors by prior reservation.
