Maria am Gestade is a Gothic church in Vienna's Innere Stadt, built beginning in 1401 near the Donaukanal. One of the oldest churches in the city alongside St. Rupert's Church and St. Stephens Cathedral, it represents one of Vienna's few surviving examples of Gothic architecture. The church's name—literally "St. Mary at the Riverbank"—reflects its original position on the fluvial terrace of a former Danube arm, and it was traditionally frequented by sailors working the river before the Danube's regulation altered the landscape.
