St. Rupert's Church (Ruprechtskirche) in Vienna's Innere Stadt district is a Romanesque church traditionally regarded as the city's oldest, dedicated to Saint Rupert of Salzburg, the patron saint of Vienna's salt merchants. Located in one of Vienna's most ancient quarters, on the site of the Roman settlement Vindobona, the church dates to 801. However, archaeological discoveries—including old foundations beneath St. Peter's Church and graves under St. Stephen's Cathedral—have complicated claims to its primacy among Viennese churches. The building is a designated heritage object in Austria.
