Massaro House is a residence on privately owned Petre Island in Lake Mahopac, New York, situated roughly 50 miles north of New York City. Originally commissioned in 1949 as the "Chahroudi House," the main residence was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright but proved too costly for the initial client, who instead received a smaller cottage on the island. After sheet metal contractor Joe Massaro acquired the property and dormant Wright drawings in 1996, he undertook construction with numerous modifications incorporating improved systems and technologies. A dispute with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation over the project's authenticity resulted in an out-of-court settlement stipulating that the completed home can only be described as "inspired by Wright" rather than as a certified Wright design.
