Frank Lloyd Wright designed this single-story waterfront residence in Rye, New York, built in 1955 for Max Hoffman, a European automobile importer. The sprawling L-shaped modern home sits on North Manursing Island overlooking Long Island Sound, commanding 5,791 square feet across a 1.97-acre lot. Constructed of stone and plaster with a slate roof and copper-trimmed fascia, the house was complemented by a Japanese-style garden designed by Stephen Morrell. The project followed Wright's 1954 design of Hoffman's Jaguar dealership showroom in Manhattan. A northern wing was added by Taliesin Associated Architects in 1972, and an interior renovation by Emanuela Frattini Magnusson followed in 1995. The house has since passed through notable owners including art collector Emily Fisher Landau and members of the Tisch family before being purchased by fashion designer Marc Jacobs in 2019.
