Matosavank is a small Armenian monastery founded in 1205 in the forested terrain of Dilijn National Park, approximately 3 kilometers northwest of the town of Dilijan in Tavush Province, Armenia. The church was constructed under the oversight of Avag of the Mkhargrdzeli dynasty, whose submission to the Mongol invading armies led him to become a military leader of combined Georgian and Armenian forces under Möngke Khan, the fourth Great Khan of the Mongol Empire. Now in ruins and situated near the monastery of Jukhtak Vank and a nearby cemetery, Matosavank remains relatively difficult to locate due to misleading trail markers in its remote wooded setting.
