Makaravank is a 10th–13th century Armenian monastery complex near Achajur village in Tavush Province, Armenia, situated on the slope of Paitatap Mountain. The site comprises four churches, a shared gavit (narthex) serving the two largest churches, and auxiliary structures, all distinguished by the originality, richness, and variety of their ornaments. Ranked alongside Aghtamar, Bgheno-Noravank, and Gandzasar as a landmark of Armenian architectural achievement, the well-preserved complex historically benefited from substantial settlements that flourished in its vicinity. Though no longer functioning as an active monastery, Makaravank remains a significant cultural heritage monument.
