Built in 1930, McKenny Hall stands as the first student union on the campus of Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Designed in a blend of Collegiate Gothic and Art Deco styles, the building originally served as a vibrant social hub, housing bookstores, a bowling alley, a bank, a ballroom, and a food court across its decades of operation. Following the opening of a new student center in 2006, McKenny underwent significant renovations and structural preservation work. Today it functions as an administrative center, home to human resources, academic advising, and career services, while also accommodating commercial tenants. Positioned across from the iconic Ypsilanti Water Tower on Cross Street, the building is a contributing property to the Eastern Michigan University Historic District and appears on the National Register of Historic Places.
