Meridian City Hall, located at 601 24th Avenue in Mississippi, is a Beaux-Arts civic structure designed by architect P.J. Krouse and completed in 1915. The building underwent unsympathetic renovations during the 1950s before being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1988. Beginning in September 2006, a comprehensive restoration returned the building to its original 1915 appearance, addressing a failing HVAC system and unforeseen structural problems. Originally estimated at $7–8 million over two years, the project faced complications from its historic designations and a contractor lawsuit, ultimately concluding in January 2012 at a projected cost near $25 million. The building continues to house municipal offices, including those of the mayor.
