Built between 1885 and 1888 in Troy, Ohio, the Miami County Courthouse is a Beaux-Arts structure designed by prominent architect Joseph W. Yost, who simultaneously created the similar Belmont County Courthouse in St. Clairsville. The building showcases characteristic Beaux-Arts grandeur through its high arched windows, Corinthian columns supporting the outthrust corners and main entrance, and a monumental flight of stairs leading to the entry. A central pediment rests on an arch of Corinthian columns, while corner projections each support their own pediment topped with urn-shaped finials. A central tower rising from the building's middle houses the clock tower and dome, crowned with a statue of Justice. The courthouse and an adjacent power station were added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 30, 1975.
