The Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, completed in 1548 in Üsküdar, Istanbul, is a 16th-century Ottoman mosque designed by the celebrated architect Mimar Sinan. Built as part of a külliye complex, it overlooks the waterfront in the historic center of the district and takes its alternative name, the İskele or Jetty Mosque, from the ferry terminal nearby. Before the construction of the modern coast road, the mosque would have stood directly beside the water, accessible by boat—a positioning that underscores its original role as a prominent waterfront landmark in Ottoman Istanbul.
