The Museum of the Islamic Era is one of two principal divisions of the National Museum of Iran, situated near Imam Khomeini Square in Tehran's District 12. Built in the Pahlavi architectural style and constructed of travertine, it functions as both an art and archaeological museum dedicated to displaying historical monuments and objects from Islamic Iran. The collection draws from scientific excavations and prestigious sources including the Sheikh Safi al-Din Khānegāh and Shrine Ensemble. A substantial section houses Qurans and manuscripts, notably gold-plated Qurans inscribed in Kufic script from early Islam, alongside epigraphic presentations of manuscripts, Quranic texts, hadiths, and mihrab inscriptions.
