Naples Afragola railway station, located in the city of Afragola in the Naples metropolitan area, was inaugurated on 6 June 2017 and designed by British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. Conceived as part of a broader scheme to develop thirteen new stations along Italy's high-speed rail network, the station serves as a major transport hub and regional gateway—nicknamed the "Gateway to the South"—handling high-speed trains on the Rome–Naples and Naples–Salerno lines, along with intercity, local, and regional commuter services operated by Trenitalia and EAV. The station operates as a critical rail interchange for Italy's southern region, connecting four individual high-speed lines.
