Nassau Castle, situated on a rocky outcropping approximately 120 meters above the Lahn River in Nassau, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, was the ancestral seat of the House of Nassau, the aristocratic dynasty that gave its name to both the castle and the historical County and Duchy of Nassau. Constructed in brick, the castle's ruins remain a testament to the power of a family whose descendants would go on to rule the present-day monarchies of the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Now designated a Kulturdenkmal (cultural monument), the castle stands as a significant landmark of medieval German nobility.
