The National Theatre Košice, situated in the centre of Slovakia's second-largest city, is a Neo-baroque building constructed between 1879 and 1899 according to designs by Adolf Lang. The representative theatre features a richly decorated interior with ornamental plasterwork and a distinctive lyre-shaped stage. Its ceiling showcases elaborate painted scenes depicting moments from four of William Shakespeare's most celebrated plays—*Othello*, *Romeo and Juliet*, *King Lear*, and *A Midsummer Night's Dream*—demonstrating the architect's ambition to create a culturally significant civic monument.
