Designed by Vasily Kosyakov and constructed between 1903 and 1913, the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt stands as the principal church of the Russian Navy, dedicated to all fallen seamen. Built in granite and rising 70 meters, the cathedral blends Art Nouveau and Byzantine Revival architectural styles, a striking presence in this Russian naval fortress. Closed in 1929, it endured decades of secular use as a cinema, House of Officers, and naval museum before the Russian Orthodox Church began its restoration. The cross was reinstalled on the main dome in 2002, with Divine Liturgy returning in 2005 after a 76-year absence. A grand reconsecration ceremony, presided over by the Patriarch of Russia and attended by Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev, took place in 2013 following the cathedral's full restoration. Today it stands as a federal cultural heritage site in Russia.
