Nea Moni is an 11th-century Byzantine monastery complex on the island of Chios, Greece, built in 1001 and situated approximately 15 kilometres inland on Mount Provateio Oros. Originally a monastic community, it now functions as a convent and history museum. The complex is celebrated for its exceptional mosaics, which rank among the finest examples of Macedonian Renaissance art in Greece, alongside those at Daphni and Hosios Loukas. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990, Nea Moni stands as a significant testament to middle Byzantine artistic and architectural achievement.
