Perched in Ano Poli in Thessaloniki, the Vlatadon Monastery is a Byzantine structure built in the 14th century during the late Byzantine period and now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing fifteen Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments of the city. Traditionally believed to occupy the site of Jason's house, the monastery survived the Ottoman siege of Thessalonica (1422–1430) through the monks' cooperation with Ottoman forces, after which it received privileged status under Sultan Murad II's orders during the subsequent Ottoman occupation. Its Byzantine architectural significance, combined with Thessaloniki's historical importance to early and medieval Christianity, secured its recognition as a World Heritage Site. The monastery's library notably housed a manuscript of Galen's *Peri Alypias*, discovered in 2005.
