The Old Collin County Courthouse stands in downtown McKinney, Texas, as a landmark of evolving architectural taste and civic purpose. Built in 1876 by architect Charles Wheelock in the Second Empire style, the building was renovated in 1927 and recast in Neoclassical dress. It served the county as an active courthouse until 1979, when a new six-story courthouse was completed. Designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1982, the structure was remodeled and reopened in 2006 as the McKinney Performing Arts Center. As of 2025, it holds an approved master plan for full restoration through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program of the Texas Historical Commission.
