Located at 15 South State Street in Salt Lake City, the Old Hansen Planetarium is a three-story Beaux-Arts commercial building originally constructed in 1904 as the Salt Lake City Public Library. The structure underwent a major renovation in 1965 to serve as the Hansen Planetarium, a role it maintained until the planetarium's relocation to the Clark Planetarium in 2003. The building was subsequently remodeled into the O.C. Tanner Company Flagship jewelry store, which opened in 2009. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the building reflects the adaptive reuse strategies common to historic downtown preservation.
