The Old Post Office in downtown Iowa City, Iowa, is a Beaux-Arts structure built of Indiana limestone in 1904 and expanded in 1931 with an addition so seamlessly integrated that it remains visually indistinguishable from the original work. After serving as the city's central post office until 1975, the building was acquired by the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center following two years of vacancy. Extensive renovations completed in September 1981 transformed it into a senior center, which by 2003 was recording nearly 90,000 annual visits, primarily from lower-income residents. Listed individually on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the building was later designated a contributing property to the Iowa City Downtown Historic District in 2021.
