Orlík Castle is a Gothic château in Orlík nad Vltavou in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, built from 1300 onward and designed by architect Bernhard Grueber in the Gothic Revival style. Originally a spur castle perched on a rocky outcrop 60 metres above the Vltava valley—its name deriving from the Czech word for "young eagle," which may reflect its dramatic eagle's-nest positioning—the structure's relationship to its landscape was fundamentally altered by the creation of the Orlík Reservoir between 1954 and 1962, leaving the castle now mere metres above water level. Designated a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic, the château remains a striking example of 19th-century Gothic Revival architecture set against its transformed riverside setting.
