The Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, Paraná, occupies a sprawling 35,000-square-meter complex dedicated to visual arts, architecture, and design. Initially opened in 1978 as an educational institute designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1967, the building was reinaugurated in 2003 as a museum bearing the architect's name—a project Niemeyer completed at age 95. Known colloquially as the Eye Museum for its distinctive ocular form, the complex comprises two buildings with 19,000 square meters of exhibition space. The structure exemplifies Niemeyer's signature approach: bold geometric forms, sculptural curved volumes contrasting with rectangular sections, sinuous pedestrian ramps, expanses of white concrete, and vibrant murals. Rooted in modernism yet resonating with postmodern sensibilities, the building stands as both architectural statement and cultural institution of international significance.
