The Oslo Synagogue, erected in 1920 in the St. Hanshaugen district, serves the Det Mosaiske Trossamfund, an Orthodox Jewish congregation established in 1892. Built in the Art Deco style, the two-story stuccoed structure features a distinctive round tower crowned with a spire bearing a Star of David. Architectural historian Carol Herselle Krinsky has characterized the building as resembling "a simple and charming country chapel," highlighting its modest yet elegant design. The synagogue received a notable state visit in June 2009 when King Harald V and Crown Prince Haakon attended.
