Ostrožac Castle, located in the village of Ostrožac in the Una-Sana Canton near Cazin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has medieval and Ottoman architectural roots tracing to the 13th century, when it stood as property of the Croatian noble house of Babonić. After Ottoman capture in 1592, the fortress was substantially rebuilt between 1900 and 1906 by Lothar Von Berks, Mayor of Bihać, as a gift for his wife, a member of the Habsburg family. Designated a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2013, the castle is renowned as the home of the Ostrožac Sculpture Park, an open-air exhibition featuring over 150 monumental sculptures carved in bihacite stone produced by the 55-year-old Colony of Sculptors event held at the site—a unique artistic installation in Southeastern Europe that the Commission for National Monuments recognizes as integral to the castle's architectural ensemble. Today the castle serves as a venue for concerts, performances, and cultural events, though restoration efforts remain ongoing.
