Palace Amusements was a Victorian-style indoor amusement park in Asbury Park, New Jersey, built in 1888 and expanded multiple times throughout its operational history. The facility featured ornate hand-carved carousel work, murals, and decorative elements that became emblematic of the era. Economic decline in Asbury Park and nationally forced the park to close in 1988, exactly a century after its opening. Despite efforts to preserve the structure, a 2004 structural inspection declared the deteriorating building unsafe, and it was subsequently demolished. Before the building's demolition, local preservationists salvaged notable architectural fragments, most famously the iconic Tillie mural. The site is recognized as a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
