The Palacio de Correos de México, located in Mexico City's historic center near the Palacio de Bellas Artes, is a major post office designed by architect Adamo Boari and completed in 1907 when the Post Office became an independent government entity. Its eclectic architectural style blends Neo-Plateresque, Isabelline, Art Nouveau, Renaissance Revival, Art Deco, and Moorish Revival elements into a complex, ornate composition that represented the most modern design practices of its era. The building suffered significant damage during the 1985 earthquake, compounded by earlier modifications in the 1950s that had weakened its structure; restoration work undertaken in the 1990s returned it to its original appearance and construction standards. Today recognized as an artistic monument, it stands as a testament to early twentieth-century Mexican architectural ambition.
