The Palacio de los Leones is the principal municipal building of Rosario, Argentina, housing the city's executive branch. Designed by architect Gaetano Rezzara in a neo-Renaissance style and inaugurated in 1898, the palace occupies a prominent corner site at Buenos Aires and Santa Fe Streets, facing Plaza 25 de Mayo and separated from the Cathedral by the Pasaje Juramento promenade that connects to the National Flag Memorial. The building's distinctive name derives from two white stone lions flanking the main entrance stairway—replicas of those adorning the Cathedral of St. Lawrence in Genoa, Italy. The palazzo itself is painted in reddish-brown terra cotta tones, creating a striking contrast with its iconic feline sentinels.
