The Palais du Pharo is a Second Empire palace in Marseille overlooking the Mediterranean Sea west of the Old Port, designed by architect Jean Marc Samuel Louis Vaucher-Crémieux and commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III for Empress Eugénie beginning in 1858. Construction concluded just as the Second Empire fell in 1870, leaving the palace as a monument to that era's architectural ambitions. Today the building and its gardens serve as an events venue, with the surrounding park open to the public, and the palace holds the status of a registered historical monument.
