The Parker House at 52 Salem Street in Reading, Massachusetts, is a 2½-story Federal-style wood-frame dwelling built in 1792 by Jonas Parker, a figure active in the American Revolution. Characteristic of vernacular Federal architecture, the house spans five bays and features clapboard siding, a side gable roof, and a granite foundation. Its most distinguished element is the center entrance, adorned with tall sidelight windows flanked by pilasters and crowned by an entablature with a shallow hood. The house's center chimney may derive from an earlier structure dating to 1715 that occupied the site. In 1919, a portion of Parker's farm was designated as Memorial Park. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
