The Paulding County Courthouse is a Richardsonian Romanesque brick structure erected in 1886 in downtown Paulding, Ohio, serving as the county's third courthouse. Designed by the E.O. Fallis Company and built under the direction of general contractor Rudolph Ehrhart, the building stands two-and-one-half stories tall with a central domed tower rising 163 feet, and measures 60 feet square. Its distinctive features include a stone foundation, nearly identical entrances on all four sides, and an asphalt roof. The courthouse was patterned after the Lenawee County Courthouse in Michigan, also designed by the Fallis architects. Built on the same site as the county's second courthouse (erected 1837 and demolished after fifty years), the building replaced a frame structure that had become inadequate. Recognized for its well-preserved architecture of statewide significance, the courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
